A message for perfectionists

4 Comments

Without your flaws I would never
leave the house,
speak my mind,
extend a hand, risk
public failure.

Without your flaws
I would be trapped,
immobilized in a cocoon of shame,
swaddled by the certainty that you are perfect
and I am not.

Remember this, the next time you fail:
your imperfect humanity gives mine courage
to emerge.
