The light is one. The light is for everyone.
In yesterday’s post I wrote about the “UU Shema” that is my way of understanding Unitarian Universalism’s long, unwieldy name.
Unitarianism emerged from a desire for a more reasonable understanding of God. For Unitarians, the doctrine of the Trinity demanded too many mental contortions, too many leaps of faith. The light is one.
Universalism also emerged from a desire for a more reasonable understanding of God. For Universalists, the doctrine of limited election was incompatible with their belief in a good and loving God. The light is for everyone.
