I love being part of a religious community that welcomes differences of opinion. I think it’s an internal corrective that helps keep us from going off the deep end.
Yesterday quite a few UUs got arrested, protesting in Arizona. And I love their passion and their courage.
But I also like the supportive contrarians who call us to use our minds as well as our hearts, to look at all the sides of the issue, and to keep us from being consumed by a single issue.
Chalice Chick reminded us that our protests may inconvenience and annoy people who have nothing to do with the issue at hand, and that we may be keeping people from doing work we value.
Dan Harper also reminds us that there’s more going on than immigration.
I love this community called the UUA. Passionate protesters, supportive contrarians, and everyone in between.
